favo(u)rite[5feivErit] adj.最喜爱的:Swimming is my favorite sport. 游泳是我最喜爱的运动。n. [C]最喜爱的人()He is a general favorite. 他是受众人欢迎的人。

【说明】用作形容词时通常不与 most 连用以免语义重复。

fax[fAks] n. 1.[U]传真传真系统:It was sent to you by fax. 它是由传真发给你的。2.[C]传真件:I’ve just sent a fax to them. 我刚刚发给他们一份传真。vt.用传真机送信件或图像:The drawings were faxed from New York. 这些图是从纽约传过来的。

fear[fiE] n. [C,U]害怕恐惧担忧:She could not speak for fear. 她吓得说不出话来。v.害怕担心恐怕:She has always feared mice. 她一向怕老鼠1. for fear of 由于怕…以防…:He left an hour early for fear of missing the train. 他提前一小时离开以免错过火车。2. for fear (that) 恐怕以免:Shut the window for fear (that) it may rain. 恐怕下雨把窗户关上。3. in fear of 害怕…担心…:We’re in fear of more snow. 我们担心会再下雪。

【说明】表示害怕做某事其后通常接不定式有时也接动名词Women fear to go [going] out at night. 妇女害怕晚上出去。

feast[fi:st] n.1.[C]宴会盛宴The king gave a feast. 国王举行宴会。2.[C](宗教)节日Christmas is an important feast for Christians. 圣诞节是基督徒的重要节日。v.1.大吃大喝享受美食(on)We feasted on chicken and coconuts. 我们吃鸡肉和椰子大饱口福。2.(正式)款待He feasted his friends on turkey. 他宴请朋友吃火鸡。

feather[5feTE] n. [C]羽毛:as light as a feather 轻如鸿毛很轻 / Fine feathers make fine birds. 佛靠金装人靠衣装。

federal[5fedErEl] adj. 中央的(政府等)联邦的:the Federal Government (of the U. S.) (美国)联邦政府 / Federal officers 美国中央机关公务人员 / Switzerland is a federal republic. 瑞士是联邦共和国。

fee[fi:] n. [C]费用:a school fee 学费 / The lawyer’s fee was 200. 律师费是200英镑。/ How much [What] is the membership fee? 会员费是多少

辨析farefee的区别fee

【说明】fee指一笔费用故是可数的且在表示“服务费”、“酬金”时通常用复数

feed[fi:d](fed, fed) v. 1.()()供养:Will you feed my cat for me? 请帮我喂我的猫好吗2.(动物或婴儿)吃:Sheep feed mostly on grass. 羊吃草。

【说明】表示“给某人或动物喂某物”通常的表达是feed sb on [with] sth feed sth to sbPlease feed some grass to the cow. / Please feed the cow on [with] some grass. 请给牛喂点草。在现代英语中有时也将其用于双宾语句型如说 Please feed the cow some grass但该结构尚有人反对建议学生慎用。

feel[fi:l](felt, felt) v. 1.感觉感到觉得:He felt somebody touch his arm. 他觉得有人摸他的胳膊。2.触:The doctor felt my arm to find out if it was broken. 医生摸我的手臂看是否骨折。3.以为认为:I feel it my duty to do so. 我认为这样做是我的责任。4.摸上去(有某种感觉)()某种感觉:Her hand feels cold. 她的手冰凉的。5.感觉是觉得:You’ll feel better after a good night’s sleep. 你好好睡一觉就会觉得好些。1. feel as if 觉得:I felt as if my leg had been broken. 我觉得仿佛我的一条腿断了。2. feel like 想要摸起来像像是…的样子:I don’t feel like taking a walk. 我不想散步。/ The material feels like velvet. 这料子摸起来像丝绒。/ It feels like rain. 像是要下雨。

【说明】其后可接带现在分词或不定式的复合结构:We all felt the house shake [shaking]. 我们都感觉这房子在震动。注意其中的不定式不带to不过当不定式为to be则应带toThey felt the plan to be unwise. 他们认为这个计划不明智。
