careful用法与搭配

1. 用作定语：

We made a careful analysis of the problem. 我们仔细分析了那个问题。

Mr Smith kept a careful record of of all expenses. 史密斯夫人对一切开支都仔细地作了记录。

I made a careful check of [on] all the names on the list, so that no one would be left out. 我把名单上的所有名字都仔细地核对了一次，以做到一个不漏。

2. 用作表语，注意用于以下结构：

(1) 后接介词 of, about, with, in 等引出的短语：

Be careful of that dog－he sometimes bites. 小心那只狗，它有时会咬人。

You can’t be too careful with your work. 工作时，你应尽可能地仔细些。

In future, be more careful with your money. 今后花钱要更加注意。

Do be careful with those fireworks; the slightest spark could set them off. 这些烟火要格外小心 稍有火星就能引起爆炸。

Be careful in your choice of books. 慎选书籍。

但是，一般不接介词 for 引出的短语：

我希望你要多注意身体。

正：I hope you’ll be more careful of [about] your health.

误：I hope you’ll be more careful for your health.

(2) 后接不定式：

Please be careful not to cause any misunderstanding. 请注意不要引起误会。

He slid out of the room, being careful not to wake his wife. 他悄悄溜出房间，小心翼翼地避免吵醒他妻子。

(3) 后接从句：

Do be careful what you say. 说话一定要小心。

Be careful how you hold it. 小心拿好。

Be careful you don’t trip (up) on the mat. 小心别在地席上绊倒了。

注意，后接 what 从句时，可用介词 of, about等，但通常省略；但是若是接 that, how, when, where 等引导的从句，则一般不用介词；另外，从句谓语若指将来，通常要用一般现在时代替将来时 (见上例)。

3. 注意比较：

(1) He’s careful to read every sentence. 他注意读 (即不漏读)每一个句子。

(2) He is careful in reading every sentence. 他读每个句子都很仔细。
