worthy的用法

◆这地方很值得一游。

误：The place is quite worthy a visit.

正：The place is quite worthy of a visit.

析：与 (be) worth 后直接跟名词不一样，(be) worthy 后不能直 接跟名词，要跟应先接介词 of。又如：It’s nothing worthy of mention.(那是件不值得一提的事)。

◆她说她不配接受他们给予的赞赏。

误：She said she was not worthy accepting the honour they had offered her.

正：She said she was not worthy to accept the honour they had offered her.

析：与 (be) worth后接动词必须要用动名词不一样，(be) worthy 后接动词时，不能直接跟动名词，而应跟不定式或“of＋动名 词”，所以上面的误句也可以改为：She said she was not worthy of accepting the honour they had offered her.又 如：He is worthy of filling [to fill] the post.(这个职 位他当之无愧) (from www.yywords.com)。

◆这个建议值得考虑。

误：This suggestion is worthy of considering.

正：This suggestion is worthy of being considered.

正：This suggestion is worthy to be considered.

析：与 (be) worth 后接动名词总是用主动形式表示被动意义不一 样，be worthy 后接不定式或“of＋动名词”时，需根据意义 的主动与被动选择相应的语态。注：有个词书认为 be worthy of 后接动名词时也可以用主动表被动，但多数语言学家反对 此用法，建议考生避免使用。
